Sam Massoni - CEO
Sam is the founder, President and CEO of New England Peptide. His entire professional career has been dedicated to peptide and polyclonal antibody production. Sam graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Honors Program at Northeastern University with B.S. in Biology. He has held scientific positions in the peptide departments of Repligen and Leukosite biotech firms, and was the Director of Production at a Northeastern peptide company. Sam has consulted with various biotechnology firms, and has also been a small business consultant for several start-up entities. He was honored by the Worcester Business Journal as a “40 under 40” winner, and his company New England Peptide, Inc. won “Start Up of the Year” in Central Massachusetts in 1999.
Jennifer Massoni - COO
Jenn co-founded NEP in 1998 and is its current COO, leading all peptide operations. She has a wide range of experience in biotechnology and peptide science and is an expert in the purification and characterization of custom peptides. Past experience includes positions at Applied Biosystems, Harvard Apparatus, PerSeptive Biosystems and a Northeastern peptide company. She studied Biology at the University of Southern Maine and Northeastern University. She is a member of Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity and a lifetime member of Mensa.
Kim Southern - CFO
Kim will lead Operations as well as Finance/HR teams for New England Peptide. She brings more than 20 years of finance, operations, and C-level experience across several industries. She led initiatives including expanding product and service offerings, and creating strategic business partnerships in multiple technology industries including medical device, alternative energy, and aerospace.
Michelle Lewis - VP, Customer Support
Michelle oversees all aspects of peptide project management for NEP. NEP’s first employee, Michelle has managed several functions within the company, including production, sales and service, before being named VP of Customer Support. Prior to joining NEP, Michelle was a quality control manager at Filtron. Before Filtron, Michelle was a production & quality manager at Quality Controlled Biochemicals. Michelle earned a B.S. in Biology from Framingham State University.
Scott Lewis - Director, Antibody Division
Scott oversees all things immunological at NEP. A bioinformatics and antigen selection expert, he has over 15 years of experience in antibody development, assay development, and the chemistry of conjugation. Under Scott's leadership, NEP's antibody programs enjoy a greater than 99% success rate by ELISA. He is also the co-inventor of the Vn96* reagent in the ME™ Kit for Microvesicle Enrichment. Scott joined NEP in 2004 from BioSource (now a part of Invitrogen), where he designed hundreds of their catalog antibody products. Scott earned a B.S. in Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Rick Perullo - Business Development Manager
Rick brings years of sales and marketing experience in life science research and biotechnology to his role at New England Peptide. Rick has worked across scientific disciplines, market segments and geographic boundaries. For most of the last ten years, Rick has been working promoting the sales of peptides and antibodies, primarily as a sales professional, growing sales in his territories every year. Rick began developing his experience in life sciences research in the radiochemical industry at New England Nuclear (DuPont, NEN, PerkinElmer), in a variety of capacities including at the bench as a biochemist, lab supervisor, managing Technical Support and applications labs as well as Product Management. Rick also led the MRP II business implementation at NEN to a Class A rating. Of Rick's role as the "Fourth Co-Chairperson" of the International Isotope Society's tri-annual meeting in Boston in 2003, the organizing committee wrote that they "would like to specifically acknowledge Rick Perullo, who, by his extraordinary effort and dedication over the past four years, greatly contributed to the success of the Symposium." Rick earned both his B.S. and M.S. at Boston College.
Bob Armstrong - Chief Strategy Officer
Bob drives the strategic sales initiative. He has a BS/BA from the University of Denver and an MBA. He has 25+ years background in driving sales, building brands, strategy development and operational execution. In the 10 years prior to joining NEP, he built and sold a $180 million business.
